Primary and Middle

Primary section caters to students from Grade I to grade V and provide a strong focus on literary and numeracy skills. Middle section prepares students from grade VI to grade VIII for their senior years of schooling.

Students come out of our primary section with a solid academic foundation, ready for the increased responsibility of middle school.  In addition, they have developed a real ability to drive their own learning, and to communicate clearly and self-advocate effectively.

The goal of the primary section is to engage children academically in a nurturing environment that embraces childhood and the journey of learning. Each learner is encouraged to find and build upon his or her strengths in a supportive environment.

Each grade at the primary level explores the different subject areas through emergent, integrated units that allow students to bring their own questions to the classroom. This approach provides students with opportunities to bring their own learning styles to the units, allowing them to apply their knowledge across many subject areas.

Our middle section includes grade VI through grade VIII, and is led by a team of teachers who work together to provide an integrated, multi-disciplinary curriculum designed to address the different learning styles inherent in every classroom. This is a time of transition, and our faculty and staff is responsive to the needs of this age group. Supporting each student as they develop a strong sense of self, awareness of their individual learning styles, resilient natures, and the ability to persevere, are our focus. Our goal is to graduate students of admirable character, high academic ability, and the ability to be a self-advocate.

Headmistress Message (Primary and Middle)

“We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give”.

Welcome to the Dunes International School website which I hope you will find informative and helpful.

“Education" in modern parlance implies a world of new connotations, concepts and definitions. Each parent desires to see his child ‘educated’ in the best possible manner. Education has always been the transmission of civilization. Children today need more guidance, opportunities, counseling and sympathy in contrast to mere classroom instruction. It has been so rightly said, “You can lead a man up to the university but you cannot make him think.”

Parents and teachers must unite to give good advice and put the children on the right path, clear their doubts when their little minds are confused, make these young individuals independent learners and thinkers. Our school aims to provide this holistic environment, so that when a student passes out, he can proudly hold his head high as a true global citizen and do the most extraordinary things in the most ordinary situations.

DUNES is a happy and vibrant school. We create an atmosphere where the children feel valued and secure and we provide an educational experience which is both challenging and fun. This supportive and encouraging environment enables children to fulfill their potential and become confident, independent learners across all areas of the curriculum. Academic standards are naturally very important to us but so are standards of behavior and the ability to cooperate and work as part of a team. We believe that an excellent education should be well rounded, a balance of academic, artistic and physical challenges. Our aim is to provide an education that begins to prepare children for their future, as citizens of a rapidly changing and dynamic world. We encourage our children to think for themselves and to develop a sense of responsibility for the world in which they live.
